About W9JAM
Hi, I’m Jeremiah Mulford, also known as W9JAM.

My journey into Amateur Radio started back in 2009 when I earned my Technician class license, followed shortly after by my General class license. Since then, what began as curiosity about radios and technology has grown into years of experience working with Amateur Radio, DMR, APRS, HF, hotspots, computers, networking, and digital communication systems.
Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours learning, troubleshooting, experimenting, teaching, and helping others better understand the technology behind the hobby. In 2016, I became heavily involved in DMR and digital radio, which eventually led to opportunities in technical support and education within the radio industry in 2022.
But the real story behind why I care so much about helping people learn technology started long before any of that.
Like many people in Amateur Radio, I had someone who took the time to teach me, encourage me, answer my endless questions, and help spark the passion I still have for this hobby today.
That person was my best friend, Kevin W7XF.
A huge part of why I put so much effort into helping others today is because somebody once did the same for me.
If you’d like to read the full story about how my journey into Amateur Radio began, and the person who helped change the course of my life through this hobby, be sure to check out the “My Elmer” section of the site.
Because sometimes one person taking the time to help someone new can change an entire future.
Turns out Wilton Knight was right when he told Michael:
“One man can make a difference.”
